Lucie Lanzini French, b. 1986

Overview

Lucie Lanzini (1986, France) studied at Ecole Nationale des Beaux arts de Lyon (2004-2009). She currently lives and works in Brussels and she is Head of the Sculpture’s departement at the Academie Royale des Beaux arts de Bruxelles (Arba-esa).

In her work, Lucie Lanzini opens a reflection on the domestic space and its architectural components, on what holds and what sticks.

Her work consists of a set of architectural and ornamental elements whose realisation and realism intrigues as much as their potential to become ruined. Through the molding technique, she evokes the relation to memories and tries to capture their absence to memorialise them. Passionate about the play of material, the artist combines different techniques of sculpture to create the discrepancies and oppositions that punctuate her work.

Lucie Lanzini received the first prize at Art Contest in 2010, and the Macors prize at Médiatine in 2018. In 2021, she had a residency at ZSenne Art Lab with David Zagari.

This year, Lucie Lanzini has an upcoming solo show at Eleven Steens (Brussels) and she exhibited “Like an Addiction” at Ballroom Gallery, as well as our exhibition “Ephémère” in the offices of Degroof Petercam in Liège. In 2022, her solo exhibitions encompassed “Coursives” at La Médiatine (Brussels), “Behind the Glass” at Quai4 Galerie (Liège) and “Lure me in” at DMW Gallery (Antwerp).
