Charlotte Quinonero Belgian, b. 1999

Overview

Charlotte Quinonero is interested in the porosity that exists between our inner selves and the surrounding reality. She creates images or situations that questions the limits of our consciousness and in which we are faced with the fragility of our gaze.

The artist often uses representations of domestic spaces and landscapes inspired by the countryside where she grew up. Her drawings, between mental images and projections of the outside, are marked by the state in which leaves us a dream or the reminiscence of a memory.

Drawing for several years on cotton, she applies pencil, charcoal or pastel, making the image appear in successive layers. The obsessively repeated gesture turn the experience of drawing into an act of presence.

Charlotte Quinonero (1999) lives and works in Brussels. After graduating in 2022 with a Master's degree in drawing from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre, she now pursues her research in the fields of drawing, writing and installation.

Recent exhibitions include Botanique, BE (2023), Biennale de Mulhouse, FR (2023), Centre d’Art de Rouge-Cloître, BE (2022), Moonens Foundation, BE (2022). She’s currently in residency at the Moonens Foundation in Brussels.
