Edouard Devriendt (BE) is a multidisciplinary artist active as a furniture designer and painter. As a furniture designer, Edouard looks for special features in his surroundings and distills the essence of spaces and objects, which he then uses as his inspiration. The same focus is reflected in his paintings, which are characterized by their simplicity and avoidance of unnecessary details. 

He places the subject in the foreground or uses color and texture to create depth. Using his smartphone as his main tool, he zooms in on details, extracts fragments from videos, captures online content and generates images. He then translates these images onto canvas with oil paint. The motivation behind Edouard's images is mainly based on personal feelings and desires. His work is a search for solace and a way to say goodbye to painful fragments of his life. Edouard often explores themes of sharpness versus vagueness, distance versus proximity, silence versus loudness and static versus movement. These themes serve as catalysts for a purposeful approach to his work.
