Antoine Moulinard (°1998, Moulins, FR) lives and works in Brussels. In 2023, he received his master's degree in ceramics from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre. He explored the marginal queer condition by drawing parallels with the representation of magical creatures in traditional folk tales. Figures such as fairies, werewolves, swamp men, vampires and the devil serve as sources of inspiration for the characters he creates, and their faces he models on those of his lovers.
Antoine strives to build his own universe entirely out of ceramics, as the backdrop for a theater stage where he can freely express his obsessions with pop culture and the figure of San Sebastian (symbolic of his commitment to the LGBTQ+ cause). His imaginary world, rich in medieval influences, comes to life in the form of fantastic furniture described as "Functional Art”. The furniture pieces in the domestic environments he creates are based on bourgeois decorative codes, exaggerated to the absurd through attention to detail. Irony, humor and theatricality are the core characteristics of this world, with its "Camp" aesthetic, as defined by Susan Sontag and embraced by queer culture.
