Charlotte Quinonero (°1999, BE) has lived and worked in Brussels since 2016. In June 2022, she obtained her Master in Drawing with great distinction from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre. Since then, she has continued her research in drawing, writing and installation.
Quinonero's work focuses on the porous boundaries between our inner selves and the surrounding reality. Inspired by her perceptual experiences, she creates images and situations that expose the fragility of our perception and question the limits of our consciousness. Her drawings balance between mental images and projections of the external world, evoking the feelings we experience after a dream or a memory. Her focus is often on everyday environments, especially using representations of domestic spaces and landscapes inspired by the countryside where she grew up. For several years, Quinonero has been drawing on cotton, applying pencil, charcoal or pastel in successive layers. These obsessively repeated movements make drawing an act of presence, adding a certain length and depth to the image. Her practice is a constantly evolving stream, with each series in continuity with the previous, like the successive scenes of a long film unfolding over the years.
