Lucas Loop (°1999, BE) lives and works in Brussels. He holds a Master’s degree in painting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Since completing his studies, he has been exploring various mediums, including painting, installation, and performance. Winner of the 2024-2025 Laurent Moonens Prize, he is deepening his practice during his residency at the Moonens Foundation.
Lucas’ work focuses on the many representations of the body and face, as well as the weight of their stereotypes. Through self-portraiture, he stages himself, using the body as a tool for expression, reshaping and challenging the notion of a standardized identity. This process involves deconstructing both the body and its projected image—a dismantling of the self that leads to continuous transformation. Through his art, he invites us to reconsider the body beyond its most familiar form.
