ROMÉO ELVIS ON THE PROJECT

"I am Roméo Elvis. I am Belgian and I work in the music industry. Music has changed my life, but my first passion remains drawing. I have an academic background in illustration and photography and have been drawing since I was a child.

When I was little, my grandmother would hand me paper and crayons when I was bored. Ever since, it has been an important way of passing time, especially during the strict lockdown. Over the years my spontaneous, naive and raw style became a part of my identity.

Demain Studios invited me to curate an exhibition where I bring together a diverse group of Brussels creatives, from recent graduates to art directors, singers, sculptors, painters, jewellers... Through this process of selecting artists I discovered what I really wanted to highlight: colours, spontaneity in the approach, free from preconceptions, bref, the spirit of BXL.

Like the artists, the art we show is multifaceted. What connects us is the shared embrace of naivety."
